If it is a version of the netbook that comes with Android pre-installed it should have a labelled drive in 'my computer'. If you don't have this and do not have an Android Settings within your Control Panel then it would seem that your version of the netbook does not have Android pre-installed.

The netbook I own came preinstalled with a build of Android and all relevant drivers etc were packaged. If you have installed a custom Android build yourself then I cant help, sorry.

It is possible that you may have an earlier build of the netbook and there is not an Android Update for the version you own, or there are no planned updates to a newer version of Android. You would have to source a method of installing a non standard build of Android for the hardware yourself if available.

hope you can give a suggestion here???

I have an Aspire One D255 model (it came with the Atom N450 and 1g of ram, but I've upgraded the ram to 2g). I am guessing it is the same as Harm Jan's Aspire One mentioned above.

I set the Acer Configuration Manager for Android to auto-update, and have had a whole series of patches installed successfully - but the last of those was in mid-October of 2011, and I am STILL on version 1.6. I have tried manually updating, but I just get the 'The system is up-to-date.' popup. : /

I feel I am really, really missing out on some utility & great apps here. :( There seems to be nothing on the Acer site, either. Do you have any idea or link to how to get it up to speed, at least in a 2.x, or - if possible - a 3.x?

Regards from Malaysia,

From the moment you press the power button, what is displayed on the screen? If the laptop doesn't get past post its more than likely a hardware fault, if it reaches a Windows screen then Windows is more than likely corrupt, so re installing the OS should hopefully fix it.
